Powder Coating Aluminum Extrusion
Powder Coating of Aluminum Extrusion
Testrite Powder Coating provides professional finishes for aluminum extrusions used in architectural, industrial, and retail applications. Our conveyor line allows us to powder-coat continuous long lengths of extrusion as well as cut-to-length pieces, delivering uniform coverage and consistent color from piece to piece.
We process mill-finish aluminum or fabricated extrusions with equal care. Choose from popular neutrals (white, black, silver, gray) or request custom-matched colors for architectural or branded projects. Minimum order is 25 pieces per color, and we can run hundreds to thousands of feet of extrusion or large-volume batches of cut parts with consistent quality and fast turnaround. We serve customers across NYC, NY, NJ, CT, PA.
Powder Coating for Aluminum Extrusion – Frequently Asked Questions
Can you coat both long continuous extrusions and cut-to-length parts?
Yes! We powder coat long lengths of aluminum extrusion up to 152" long on our conveyor belt line — ideal for architectural profiles, channels, and rails — as well as cut-to-length pieces used for frames, assemblies, or retail fixtures. Both receive the same smooth, durable powder-coated finish.
Why choose powder coating instead of anodizing on aluminum extrusion?
Powder Coating provides a finish that can be applied after all fabrication is complete. This adds an impact-resistant surface on top of the aluminum, whereas anodizing treats the metal itself. This means powder coating helps conceal minor surface imperfections in the aluminum extrusion and offers excellent weathering and abrasion resistance. In addition, Powder Coating offers a far wider range of colors, textures, and gloss levels. Anodizers are limited to the tanks they have — typically one color per tank. As a powder coater, we can spray any commercially available color and switch between colors in minutes.
What kinds of aluminum extrusion shapes can you powder coat?
We finish U-channels, angles, tubes, slatwall profiles, architectural trims, Build-A-Stand components, sign frames, and custom OEM shapes. Strategic racking helps us coat interior recesses wherever accessible.
Do extrusions require special preparation before coating?
All parts are cleaned in our environmentally friendly 3-stage washing process before powder coating. This green process was first engineered for cleaning and coating aluminum, so it’s perfect for aluminum extrusion. If you are sending cut-to-length pieces, ensure they are free of oils or protective films and that any required hang holes are included for smooth processing on our line. We understand aluminum extrusion, including the fact that some surfaces may be critical to coat whereas others may not. We can adjust our pricing based on where you need powder coating and where you don’t.
Can you match architectural or branded colors and textures?
Yes. We offer custom color-matching in smooth or fine-texture finishes, with matte, satin, or gloss sheen options to meet architectural specifications or branding requirements.
What is your minimum order and typical production capacity?
Our minimum order is 25 pieces per color or equivalent footage for continuous lengths. We run hundreds to thousands of feet of extrusion or large-batch cut parts with fast turnaround and consistent quality.
Do you serve customers in NYC, NY, NJ, CT, and PA?
Yes. We routinely support architectural fabricators, OEMs, contractors, and manufacturers across New York City, New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania with convenient regional logistics.
