Powder Coating for Welded Assemblies – Frequently Asked Questions

Do you powder coat welded aluminum and welded steel assemblies?

Yes. We regularly powder coat welded aluminum and welded steel assemblies. We use proper cleaning, masking, and racking strategies for each material to achieve consistent, high-quality finishes.

Do I need to do anything special to prepare my parts for powder coating?

Yes, powder coating starts with part cleaning, and this process uses water. Parts must be designed to hang on the line (include one or more hang holes). They also need to be designed so water can drain. This sometimes means adding drain holes to avoid water pooling, which can adversely affect finish quality. If you have any concerns, please reach out before sending parts and we’ll advise on best practices.

What types of welded assemblies can you powder coat?

We coat frames, brackets, guards, carts, stands, sub-assemblies, enclosures, architectural weldments, and custom fabrications. We use strategic racking and masking to preserve threads, mating surfaces, mounting pads, and ground points.

How do you prepare welded parts before coating?

We perform thorough surface prep, including cleaning/degreasing and, when needed, media-blasting to remove weld spatter, scale, and contaminants. Proper prep ensures adhesion, coverage, and a durable finish on both aluminum and steel assemblies.

Can you match a specific color or finish?

Yes. We offer custom color matching and a range of textures and sheens — smooth or fine-texture; matte, satin, or gloss — to meet your product or architectural requirements.

What is your minimum order and production capacity?

Our minimum order is 25 pieces per color. We also support high-volume production in the thousands or tens of thousands of parts with consistent quality and reliable turnaround.

Do you serve customers in NYC, NY, NJ, CT, and PA?

Yes. We regularly serve fabricators, OEMs, and contractors across New York City, New York State, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania, with convenient regional logistics.
